Mosaic hosted Ability Day in conjunction with Northridge Middle School at Lifeline Ministries- a nonprofit that serves inner city youth. The eighth grade students met people in our day program at Lifeline and played ball, made “Ability Mix” for a snack, played a get-to-know-you game, foosball, carpet ball and board games. Best of all the kids and adults became friends.
At first everyone was a little shy and quiet but by the end of the morning, everyone was laughing, children knew our day program participants by name and there was steady conversation. We are thankful to be part of the school’s NIDDA event which promotes education and advocacy. Also great was the media coverage we received inviting the community to our Discover the Possibilities events. We hope to host a class next year as well!
